Beaches

Cala Aguya beach

Most visitors come to Mallorca for its beautiful beaches. Some prefer to hide away in one of the many coves and bays along the coast from Canyamel to Cala mesquida, each blessed with clean and superbly clear water. All are easy to reach and every square-inch is great for sunbathing! We recommend wearing rubber slippers (available in all shops) when visiting these bays and coves.

Cala Agulla.- This beach has not changed much since the 2nd world war when Cala Ratjada was a nest for spies. Today Cala Agulla is one of the most visited beaches on the island. Cala Agulla has both sunny and shady areas (under pine trees) and has life- guards, bars, aqua sports etc. Cala Ratjada also has Cala Gat and Son Moll; two smaller beaches that are also wonderful. Most Bellavista clients tend to frequent Cala Gat.

Cala Mesquida.- just seven kilometres from Capdepera (catch a public bus from the bus stop close to bellavista), one finds the big yet unspoilt beach of Cala Mesquida. It is one of the most spectacular beaches on the island and has big sandunes and a pine forest. Cala Mesquida can be reached from Cala Agulla on foot, horseback or mountain bike. It is one of the most beautiful hiking routes in the area and ideal for those who want to enjoy the local flora and fauna.

Canyamel.- another beach that belongs to Capdepera (just 10 minutes away by car, public bus service during high season). There is a hiking route from Font de Sa Cala that is recommended in spring and autum. Canyamel not only has fine white sand but also two places of great interest: the Caves of Canyamel, better known as the Caves of Arta, and the torrent coming down from the hills of Arta. This stream forms one of the most important wetlands on the island and is protected by “ANEI” (natural park of special interest) It has unique flora and fauna.

Font de Sa Cala.- Another one of Capdepera’s beaches . Although urbanised, it is only crowded in the months of July and August. It can be reached by car or mini trail from Cala Ratjada and Capdepera.
